Soccer fans to converge to Kabokweni

It’s believed that hosting sports activities plays an important in terms of sports development in the province.

Soccer fans are expected to come in numbers at the local stadium this coming Sunday to watch the finals of the Mbombela Mayoral Cup 2013 under-15.

About 32 teams were taking part in the knock-out games that started on 15 October 2013. Nelspruit Angels based in Msogwaba, will play against a team from Game Section.

According to the coaches of the team during the knock-out games, they indicated that this year the competition was very tough since many teams were hungry for the cup.

Mpumalanga News learnt that the Nelspruit Angels won several games including defeating powerful teams such a Young Celtics. It’s believed that hosting such sport activities plays an important role in terms for sports development in the province.

The Nelspruit Angels were supposed to go for trials with Kaizer Chiefs Development, but their trip on the 7th December 2013 was cancelled due to the mourning period for global icon, Dr Nelson Mandela.

This newspaper asked the managing coach, Sam Mnisi about when they are going to Naturena, which is the club house of the big team and he had this to say: “The trip has been postpone to next year. For now, our focus is winning the Mayoral Cup. We are expecting a win under stream B, while we are in stream A. We are promising people of Msogwaba that we will bring the cup home. My boys are more than ready, we want to celebrate our victory with our people. We have organized buses to transport them free of charge. Pick-up point is at Shell garage at 9H00,” he concluded.
