International taekwondo legend trains locals

The aim of bringing master, Warren Vice to South Africa is to equip our taekwondo practitioners with advanced sparring techniques.

Taekwondo Mpumalanga Province hosted a successful sparring seminar conducted by renowned taekwondo practitioner and master, Warren Vice, from Europe last week.

Both young and old karatekas attended the once-in-a-lifetime event. Children as young as four years and adults from different parts of the province showed their enthusiasm for the sport.

President and founder of Taekwondo Mpumalanga, Job Magagula said, “The aim of bringing this taekwondo legend to South Africa is to equip our taekwondo practitioners with advanced sparring techniques for point stop and continuous sparring,” he said.

He adds that seminar was also ideal in their preparations for the 2021 World Championship in England. Magagula thanked all sponsors who made seminar a success.
“We thank the Mpumalanga Economic Regulators, Mpumalanga Department of Sports, Culture and Recreation, Sports menswear house and Mercure Hotel for supporting this seminar. We, however, request more support from the government so that taekwondo can be part of the school program like in Europe, America and Asia,” he said.

The seminar also saw Magagula being promoted to 5th-degree belt master by Grand Master Dave Oliver, the president of Taekwondo International. He also received a certificate for his hard work and dedication in developing taekwondo in the country.
