Third annual Mpumalanga Cyclist Tour launched

The purpose of the tour is to sell the province as an ideal sport tourism destination and to make other young people aware of cycling as a sport.

The Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, in partnership with Forever Resorts SA launched the third annual Mpumalanga Cyclist Tour in White River on Wednesday.

The purpose of the tour that will kick-start on January 13, 2018 is to sell the province as an ideal sport tourism destination and to make other young people aware of cycling as a sport.

“Cycling is a sport that most people in our province are not aware of, through the tour as a department, we are trying to make people aware of it and also promote social cohesion,’’ said Ms Sibongile Nkosi, head of Communications at the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation.

The tour will have six stages and will cover 752 kilometres in six days in the areas of Loskop Dam, Badplaas, Mbombela, Graskop and Blyde River Canyon.
