Karate team bags eight gold medals

The Nelspruit Tae Kwando and Wadokai Karate Club has put the province on the map again during the Tae Kwando International Championship competitions held in Pretoria.

The Nelspruit Tae Kwando and Wadokai Karate Club has put the province on the map again during the Tae Kwando International Championship competitions held in Pretoria.

Clubs from the various provinces competed in categories such as full contact fighting, board breaking and patterns.

Mpumalanga News learnt that six fighters from this province left many spectators speechless during the competition, some of the fighters includes the likes of Sensei Botha, the 3rd degree black belt in tae kwando, who won the board-breaking section.

The club retained its good record as they managed to bag eight gold medals in different categories. In an interview with this reporter the jubilant instructor of the club,Job Magagula, had this to say after their victory:

“We are very pleased with our achievement and we are going to continue to develop tae kwando as a martial art and sport”.

He concluded by saying that the good performance of the club had boosted their confidence as they were preparing to go to Italy this year to represent the province in internationally.
