#RightDownTheLine: Kaizer Chiefs is on a roll

They also thrashed Mamelodi Sundowns at the weekend which was a bonus for them. But a win is a win, and we cannot decide otherwise.

Last weekend was quite an eventful one, especially when Kaizer Chiefs gave Cape Town City the boot in a penalty shoot-out on last week Saturday.

What is even more concerning was when City’s coach, Benni McCarthy, complained about the referee, who, according to him, should have just worn the Chiefs’ jersey, because his side was never in the referee’s favour. This is a very serious matter and SAFA should investigate these incidents, and there should be serious repercussions. We cannot have a substandard officiating in our fields; professionalism is not negotiable. Nonetheless, Amakhosi supporters are pleased with the results even though the match was not a clean one, with 12 yellow cards; six for Chiefs and another six for City. What is done is done. Meanwhile, the Springboks are made us proud in Japan following their successful campaign to reach the finals. I think we can safely say we broke the hearts of the Japanese. But that is the name of the game. It is sports, and some of the basics also apply to football, therefore, there are no shortcuts to victory. Only the most determined team is able to pull things through and deliver, and it is something that they did. We should be proud more than anything, and they deserve all the support and love
