Right down the line: What a rocky start for Orlando Pirates

Remember, you lose some, you win some, and that is the name of the game.

Teams have marked their territory and have set the pace and direction they want to take for the season. In the PSL, Orlando Pirates seem to have had a rocky start when they lost 3-0 to SuperSport United at Mbombela Stadium two weeks ago.

Highlands Park put one goal behind the net last week, as if the 3-0 scoreline was not traumatic enough. That was six costly points lost for the Buccaneers, which would have possibly placed them at the top. My view is that it may have been a loss, but surely it is not a setback, considering the players that have been signed. Remember, you lose some, you win some, and that is the name of the game. Coach Milutin Sredojević resigned to be Zamalek’s coach that may have affected the functionality of the team. He has been an excellent coach and has ushered the team as runner-ups in the last season. I hope they find another coach who will take over the reins and move the team forward.

On the coaching note, SAFA is searching for a Bafana Bafana coach and some have suggested that Benni McCarthy is the right man for the job. My hope is to make sure that the team is stable and solid. This will make the job to blend in and start working on improving the rankings much more simpler. It is still a long way, but we all know how the national team have disappointed us on numerous occasions. Let us not have high expectations, but only wish them the best of luck, because they need it more than any other national team.
