Right down the line: Cricket drama in the centre of controversy

Australian captain had a lot of explaining to do in this a press conference at the Sydney Airport last week. Anyway, he made his bed now he must lie in it.

On the cricket side of the world, there is a lot of news reports about the Proteas and their test matches and other related news.

Faf du Plessis must be feeling bad after his ball-tampering incident in 2016 which will haunt him for the rest of his life. Australian cricketer, Steve Smith also admitted to ball-tampering in Cape Town in a match against the Proteas. Well, we can all see what the pair have in common. What a shame. Kagiso Rabada was cleared by the ICC after he was found guilty of a level 2 breach of the ICC code of conduct. He had an altercation with Smith in the second test at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth. This storm will blow over soon. There is too much drama in cricket. Can we take a break from it? The arbitration case between Urban Warriors’ Tendai Ndoro and the PSL’s Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) is finally coming to an end. The PSL is appealing a decision by the DRC to allow Ndoro to play for Ajax‚ despite of a FIFA ruling that says no player can play for three different teams in a single season. Let us hope the PSL wins this one

Bafana Bafana head coach, Stuart Baxter has planned to use two squads for the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) Cup for the teams that are going to compete in the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia.

The first squad will play in the Cosafa, while the second will play the World Cupbound teams as preparation for the 2019 Africa u/23 Cup of Nations and Olympic qualifiers. The younger boys are likely to compete better than the experienced squad. The head coach seems to be holding back his confidence into the u/23s. They havemore energy and stamina, which could be used to groom them to be future African stars. I personally do not think Baxter’s strategy will work. Let us just wait and see.
