Right down the line: Can we cut the Proteas some slack!

We have seen more African players who take interest in rugby and are excellent at it. Since the South African Rugby and Stellenbosch Academy of Sport joined forces and hopefully solve transformation issues within the sport.

South African Rugby has joined forces with the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport and established an annual national academy for 30 of the country’s brightest young stars.

It is with pleasure we let you know that Salmaan Moerat‚ Muller Uys‚ Nkosikhona Masuku and Rikus Pretorius are among the academy’s first intake. This is a good initiative for upcoming young rugby players. A lot of star players will be recognised via this platform, and hopefully it will address the ongoing transformation issue. Thumbs up to SA Rugby for investing in developing youngsters who take interest in the sport. It will make a difference in their lives. The Proteas lost to India, and Faf du Plessis said they did not get enough runs last Thursday.

They are now getting backlash from the supporters. People need to understand that a game is a game. In sports, you either lose or win.
Maybe we should not frustrate our players as much as we do. We have the right to frustrate Bafana Bafana. So, let us cut the cricketers some slack. It was only an international friendly. On the other side of the world in the English Premier League, Jurgen Klopp was left fuming at referee Jon Moss after Harry Kane’s 100th Premier League goal from the penalty spot. He snatched a controversial point for Tottenham Hotspur from a dramatic finale in a 2-2 draw at Liverpool on Sunday. Klopp is another Benni McCarthy. He can be dramatic on the pitch, which makes his boys nervous. He is a good manager, but he needs to breathe a little.
