People desire and crave for many things, most of them, material and short term, few people embrace the spirit and attitude of king Solomon of the biblical Old Testament, who, instead of silver and gold, asked for wisdom (1 Kings 3:9). What is wisdom? Wisdom is not cleverness, it is not genius, neither is it craftiness or cunningness. It is the ability to discern and apply knowledge and, experience correctly (the ability to use knowledge). It is the ability to judge correctly and to follow the best course of action, based on knowledge and understanding. There are three words that exist closely to wisdom: cleverness or craftiness which is canal wisdom, intelligence that is genius which is God’s gift for life, then you have wisdom which is a gift from God and transcends the material world to the spiritual or abstract world of indefinite eternities. Without wisdom you fight people you should be begging and beg people you should be fighting. Life is too hard without it. Marriages have floundered due to its lack, businesses closed shop; others are literally dead for lack of wisdom. Hosea 4:6.
Two ways of acquiring wisdom, walk with the wise” walking with wise men is like going to the perfumery you may not buy anything but the smell will stay on you for a day or two. We ask wisdom from God. James 1:5. Wisdom teaches: live in the present, plan for the future and profit from the past.
