The Masina twins, originally from Entokozweni, aspire to wear the green and gold national rugby jersey, becoming a part of the Springbok women’s team. Vella and Priscilla (24) are avid rugby lovers and professional players currently playing for the provincial rugby team, the Airlink Pumas.
They believe that with their passion, skills and determination, they are well on their way to achieving their goals by making a name for themselves in the rugby world. The twins have been playing rugby since 2019. They made it to the Arlink Pumas’ squad when they were 19.

They participated in the South African Rugby Women’s First Division this year. They also reached the semi-finals in 2024.
“We have always been passionate about rugby. We love the physicality, strategy, and camaraderie with our teammates. We are driven to succeed and make a name for ourselves in the rugby world,” said Priscilla.
Vella said that becoming orphans was a catalyst for them to work towards realising their dreams.
“We had to look after ourselves from a young age and rugby has become a huge part of our lives. It has shaped the life we want for ourselves and we are committed to making it count,” she said.

The twins are working towards playing in the South Africa’s top domestic rugby union, the Woman’s Premier Division as well as in international competitions. Vella said they are currently staying in Matsafeni, right next to the Mbombela Stadium, which gives them ample opportunity to train and be scouted by potential clubs.
