Elvis Presley Makhubela of Entokozweni near KaNyamazane was killed outside his home on Saturday evening, January 4.
A provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, confirmed the man reportedly received a call from a group of men and stepped outside to meet with them at about 22:00.
“He was shot and died before help could arrive.”
Mdhluli said the police and paramedics were summoned to the scene where they found the body of a man with multiple gunshot wounds. The officers recovered seven 9mm cartridges at the crime scene.

“The motive for the killing is still unknown and no one has been arrested yet,” said Mdhluli.
The police urge anyone with information that might assist in the apprehension of the suspects to call the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or send information via the My SAPS app.
“All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous,” said Mdhluli.
The acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, also strongly condemned this senseless murder.
He emphasised that the police would work around the clock to ensure the perpetrators were arrested swiftly.
