It was fun-filled day with informative presentations about various careers, and singing, dancing and poetry.

The pupils of Maminza Primary School enjoyed their annual Career Guidance Day that filled them with hope for the future.

They attended school on Friday, November 1, dressed in work uniforms and creative outfits exhibiting those careers they aspire to.

To make the day extra special, some of the learners in the higher grades rendered informative presentations about various careers, while some showcased their creativity and talents in singing, dancing and poetry.

A Grade Five teacher and one of the facilitators of the day, Prudence Zwane, said the aim of the occasion was to expose all the learners to more careers they can venture into when they are older.

“We asked some of the learners to do research to guide and educate about the different career paths, which was amazing for everyone to watch and to participate in. It goes beyond career exploration. This assists in developing research skills, communication skills and critical thinking which are vital for the 21st century. We want to increase awareness of educational requirements, foster goal setting, build confidence and motivation to our learners.”

Zwane added: “The career guidance was planned to lay a foundation for our learner’s future aspirations and to help them develop a broader understanding the professional world, so they can make strategic decisions that will broaden their opportunities. Some of the objectives included, self-awareness and building aspirations.”
