TS Galaxy’s chances of winning any silverware this season were dented as they lost 1-0 to Magesi FC at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday, November 3. The Carling Knockout Cup match saw the visitors score a goal through Lehlogonolo Mokone on the stroke of half-time to win the match.
Despite the heat in Mbombela, TS Galaxy had a good opening, even though they failed to secure a goal during the early proceedings of the game. Even though the Rockets had control, Magesi gained momentum and managed to score a goal in the 44th minute.

A miscommunication between defender and goalkeeper left a loose ball bouncing around in the six-yard box and Mokone pounced to spill first blood, silencing the home crowd.
The second half saw the Rockets once again controlling the game, forcing several huge defensive efforts from Magesi.
Last season’s finalists missed out on the semi-final berths, despite controlling the match. The Rockets had 64% of possession in the game, but lack of firepower in front of the goals saw them succumbing to a defeat.

Magesi’s defence was resolute, as it was marshalled by the captain, Elvis Chipezeze. The shot-stopper was voted the man of the match for his prolific goalkeeping in the game.
TS Galaxy will now focus their attention on the Betway Premier Soccer League. They are currently rooted at the bottom of the table with a single point after five games.
