Some spinning speed freaks showcased their impressive skills at the Numbi Spin Fest at Numbi Gate Spin City on October 12.
The Numbi Spin Fest was established in 2011. It’s a car spinning event that happens four times a year, when enthusiasts are treated to an exciting display of the best local and guest spinners showcasing their skills on the track.
Among the drivers were Austin Kruger, the Lynix Team Swazi as well local spinners such as Samkeliso ‘Sam Sam’ Thubane, Juluka, Boyka and others.
Sam Sam (26), who was recently announced as an official Red Bull athlete and the first spinner to win the Red Bull Shay’iMoto competition twice in a row, said the event highlighted how he felt about headlining the event.
“It was a big achievement for me. It shows that since I began in 2010, the amount of work I have put in is paying off. We have been in this sport for so long and I think we have become great examples for those looking up to us,” he said.
Sam Sam is fresh off his performance at this year’s Red Bull Showrun alongside F1 legend David Coulthard in Johannesburg on October 6.

He is set to make an appearance at the BMW M Fest at Kyalami from October 25 to 27.
He advised aspiring motorsport athletes: “Spinning is an expensive sport, so you need to be willing to spend money, but the most important thing is to be humble. Looking down on others is not good sportsmanship.”
