Mpumalanga runners master Chicago Marathon

Bella’s Athletics Club’s members conquered one of the world’s Abbott World Marathon Majors on October 13.

A group of athletes of Bella’s Athletics Club conquered the prestigious Chicago Marathon, one of the world’s Abbott World Marathon Majors, on October 13.

These athletes, Tlangelani Mthimkhulu, Lebocian Modipane, Pollen ‘Lady P’ Mathibe and Sizwe Taita, qualified for this renowned event by achieving the required times in several local races.

The Chicago Marathon is celebrated not only for its fast and flat course, but also for its scenic route, which winds through iconic landmarks and vibrant neighbourhoods. The race begins and ends in Grant Park, a sprawling urban park along the lakefront that offers stunning views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.

Bella’s Athletics Club’s captain, Patrick Ntimane, expressed immense pride in the athletes. He said they are incredibly proud of these hard-working individuals who consistently strive for excellence.

Mthimkhulu, a seasoned marathoner who has completed more than six world majors and is sponsored by the Forek Institute of Technology, achieved a remarkable personal best of 03:20:48. This outstanding performance adds to her impressive résumé, which includes participation in other international races such as the New York City Marathon, Berlin Marathon and London Marathon.

Bella’s Athletics Club is excited to announce its upcoming major event, the 12x12km Challenge, scheduled to take place in December.

The club continues to inspire and support its members as they pursue their passion for running on both local and international stages.
