Steenbok soccer club receives full kits to up their game

Many hands contributed towards this thoughtful donation, including the Mjejane Game Reserve Home Owners Association, I-Talk International and Bradley Grobler.

The Mjejane Game Reserve Home Owners Association (HOA), in collaboration with I-Talk International and Bradley Grobler, donated 30 full soccer kits to the Steenbok Classic Football Club on Tuesday, September 17. This generous donation was made as part of the HOA’s commitment to community involvement and development.

Bradley Grobler plays as a striker for the Premier Soccer League Club, SuperSport United, and the South African national team. Being a homeowner at the game reserve himself, Grobler said helping the community is close to his heart and in line with his passion and career.

“Football is very close to my heart and this is something I have wanted to do for a very long time. I was previously involved in similar donations made to Mangweni a few years ago, and when I heard that the HOA would launch this initiative, I felt the need to jump in. Areas such as Steenbok don’t get enough attention when it comes to identifying young talent and this is a chance to give youngsters the opportunity to play football. Who knows? The next big South African star might come from Steenbok,” said Grobler.

A Bradley Grobler Tournament is in the pipeline for both Steenbok and Mangweni.

“To visit a place I love so much and help with soccer is something that I find exciting. The tournament is something I have been planning for some time now with other stakeholders who approached me. I have already held meetings about it and it’s definitely going to happen,” he added.

I-Talk International’s Aden Lahound, who is also a homeowner, said this is one of the many ways in which they get involved in the community and their engagements are continuous.

“We have given the soccer team a full kit, soccer boots, training bibs and training nets. We will work closely with the team to support them in their journey. I also understand that they are part of the Nedbank League and they will need sponsorship for transport and other logistics. We will look into that once we understand what their programmes are,” said Lahound.

The team manager of Steenbok Classic FC, Philani Tshabalala, said this is a huge confidence boost for the team.

“We are so excited and grateful. This will encourage our boys to get onto the pitch with confidence, as it is often said that when you look good, you feel good. This will also encourage the youngsters to get involved in soccer. The community will appreciate the impact of these donations because this means that more young boys will be kept off the streets from indulging in drugs and ultimately reduce crime in the area,” said Tshabalala.
