Marite artist drops new amapiano album for festive season

This young artist hopes the album will cement him in and garner him some popularity in the music scene.

As is tradition in the music industry, many artists are releasing music for their fans to enjoy over the upcoming festive season.

This goes without saying with the up-and-coming vocalist Excellent Mashego (23), stage name Makoya the Vocalist. He recently cooked up a polished debut album with his producer, Haveness Mokwena, also known as Officxil Ozee, released on September 6. It is an amapiano album titled Amaphupho that features seven songs.

“I hope this album will cement us in the local music industry. I am quite excited to release it and hope people will jam to it during the upcoming festive season. It consists of seven songs, of which one is called ‘Bekezela’. It is a song about holding onto our dream and giving hope to people that everything they wish for will work out someday,” Mashego said. “I hope to hear our music being played on community and commercial radio stations. I dream of making it big in the music industry and being influential just like Kabza De Small.”

The singer-songwriter from Marite said he ventured into music in 2015 when his grandmother had passed away. “I wrote a song that I used to sing to find comfort after my granny died. Some people would hear me sing it randomly and encourage me to venture into music. As time went by, I joined a music group called Junior Empire Group. In 2017, I released my own music and started gaining some recognition in my community.”
