Nsikazi’s ‘Xhosa Princess’ aims for Miss Princess Universe SA

Bontle Pungulwana is a semi-finalist for Miss Princess Universe SA and is set on giving back to her community and advocating against body shaming.

Nsikazi’s much-loved model, the 10-year-old Bontle Pungulwana, also known as the ‘Xhosa Princess’, aims to bag a national crown, Miss Princess Universe SA.

She is currently a semi-finalist in the pageant, her first time entering a national competition. She advocates against body shaming and aims to encourage people to feel confident in and be proud of their bodies.

“I am excited about this journey because I am exposed to more opportunities to give back to my community and to encourage my peers to be persistent in achieving their dreams,” Bontle said.

She recently partnered with Amigos Cocktails in Hazyview and donated clothing items and sanitary towel packs to children living in an orphanage at Uthando House, located near her home in Masoyi.

Bontle continues to stun locals with her confidence and stage presence at competitions and hopes to make an impact if she wins the crown.

She gained popularity in 2022 during Miss Hazyview. She bagged more crowns such as Miss Preteen KaBokweni 2023 and Mini Miss Mpumalanga 2024.

Adding to her bio, she is becoming an insightful pageant judge with the help of her mother and manager, Cynthia Shabangu. “She enjoys being a judge a lot because she gains recognition and gets to learn and socialise with her peers on a common ground,” Shabangu said.
