Diverse women celebrated in Mbombela in August

The Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency hosted a colourful spring event to honour local women who are dedicated to uplifting themselves and their communities.

Women dressed in their spring colours gathered at the Tfokomala Hotel at the University of Mpumalanga in Mbombela on August 28 to celebrate Women’s Month in style.

The Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency hosted this celebration to honour local women from various backgrounds who aspire to uplift themselves and to do good for their communities.

Many speakers touched on various ways a woman can uplift herself, while also tackling social ills such as gender-based violence and unemployment. These speakers included the keynote speaker for the day, Nombulelo Mkhumane, Dr Prudence Buthelezei, Captain Jabu Ndubane and representatives of Old Mutual, First National Bank, Virgin Active and Xela College of Design.

Mkhumane’s address was based on women’s health, financial empowerment, safety and business etiquette. She also outlined key leadership characteristics that women can adopt to become more effective leaders, especially in their workplace.

Attendees interacted with one another by sharing life experiences and learning new ways to tackle life.
