Mbombela CBD and other areas without power after cable theft

The replacement of the cable is expected to take eight hours.

The Mbombela CBD and other parts of the city are without power following a cable theft incident in the area on Friday, August 23.

The spokesperson of the City of Mbombela, Joseph Ngala, said that about 30m of power cable was stolen under the railway bridge behind City Centre in Mbombela.

“Our technicians are already on the scene for repairs. The estimated time of repairs is about eight hours,” Ngala said.

Most traffic lights in the CBD are off, causing major traffic delays. However, traffic officers have been deployed to major intersections to assist in the morning and lunch hours.
