University of Mpumalanga celebrates entrepreneurs

The University of Mpumalanga’s Centre for Entrepreneurship Rapid Incubator (UMPCFERI) hosted a Student Women Economic Empowerment Project (SWEEP) Conference on July 30, under the theme ‘Nurturing women leadership and empowerment’.

SWEEP serves a special purpose aimed at equipping female students with entrepreneurial activity in the context of gender-based violence and the underrepresentation of student women in entrepreneurship.

The UMP’s vice chancellor, Prof Thoko Mayekiso, said in a society that still suffers from patriarchy and toxic masculinity, leadership poses serious challenges for female leaders.

“The attitudes of wholeness and sufficiency and the mindset of abundance are critical for female leaders. As an institution, it demonstrates that we do more than talking. We also walk you through every point where we can make a contribution to this important development.”
