Mbombela Farmer’s Market offers plenty of family entertainment

The locally acclaimed Mbombela Farmer’s Market on August 3 definitely set the bar high for the approaching spring season.

The warmth and lush scenery of the Lowveld National Botanical Garden set the tone for the day. There was some good music and poetry performances by local creatives, food and drinks for every palate and crafted items on display.

The kiddies’ area was flooded by the little ones enjoying the bouncy castles and face-painting.

The market’s organiser, Mmabakwena Nxumalo, said it is gaining momentum and even attracting people from neighbouring countries such as eSwatini and Mozambique.

“Local musicians, cooks and crafters appreciate this platform because they gain exposure for their businesses every time they showcase here. We had many stallholders; 12 of them showcasing arts and crafts items, and 25 selling food and drinks.

For live entertainment, we had two bands, three solo artists and seven DJs. More markets will be hosted throughout the rest of the year,” Nxumalo said.
