KaBokweni man kills wife and himself

The incident was reported to have taken place earlier this morning, August 6.

A man shot his wife dead and then turned the gun on himself in KaBokweni on Tuesday, August 6.

This is according to the Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, based on preliminary reports of the investigation. “The police and emergency services personnel were dispatched to the scene. However, it appears that both individuals have died as a result of the incident,” he said.

While investigators continue to probe, the acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, emphasised that the incident is a stark reminder of the urgent need for awareness, prevention and support for those impacted by such violence. “As part of efforts to address the challenges of violence, the Mpumalanga SAPS has organised a prayer day in Ermelo on August, when members of faith-based organisations will be in solidarity and pray against this scourge that has engulfed our society.”
