Mpumalanga teachers acknowledged during annual awards

MEC Cathy Dlamini said the programme gives them an opportunity to honour the teachers who work hard and always give their best when teaching.

The MEC for education, Cathy Dlamini, congratulated the teachers of Mpumalanga at the provincial instalment of the National Teaching Awards in the Kruger National Park on Saturday, August 24.

Dlamini said the platform provides the department with an opportunity to honour the teachers who give their soul, mind and body to teach and transfer their skills, knowledge and values to their learners.

“Today, as we enter the 23rd year of the National Teaching Awards, we appreciate the teachers who go the extra mile working hard and smart, at times, under trying circumstances.

“All of us present are products of our teachers and we know that had it not been for their care, love and commitment, we would not be who and where we are today.”

She said it is, therefore, justifiable that the department spare some time in their heavy schedule to say thank you to these teachers.

“I am in agreement with everyone that we need to occupy the dance floor, sing our lungs out to show and express our deep appreciation for the mother of all professions and teachers in particular.

She said they are proud to be associated with the calibre of teachers who are resourceful, caring, loving and have the interest of their learners and that of our communities at heart.

“I saw some of these teachers at the the 2024 ABC Motsepe South African School Eisteddfod when I visited MC Zitha Secondary School at Ben Matloshe Secondary School, Impilo Primary School and Sijabulile Primary School during the winter school programme.”
