Mpumalanga health department hosts paediatrics awards ceremony

These awards helped to review the work done and gave feedback on what has been achieved regarding HIV/Aids care and treatment.

The Mpumalanga Department of Health hosted a successful Mpumalanga Provincial Paediatrics Awards ceremony at Ndalo Lodge on Wednesday July 10. The purpose was to review paediatric performance indicators on HIV/Aids care and treatment to further determine whether patient care is consistent with evidence-based best practices, and to provide feedback to health workers to improve healthcare practices.

Speaking at the event, the deputy director general of clinical services, Dudu Mdluli, commended those facilities that performed the best and achieved good results. She also encouraged all facilities to recommit their efforts to improve the provision of paediatric HIV/Aids care and treatment to achieve the 95-95-95 HIV testing, treatment and viral suppression target.

“We acknowledge the remarkable work done and we will also work around the clock to further improve ourselves. We can only achieve this by working together. With the capabilities we all possess, we can achieve more,” Mdluli said.

During the event, the best performing facilities in the provision of HIV/Aids care and treatment (primary healthcare facilities and hospitals) were acknowledged and awarded trophies and certificates to show appreciation for their hard work in serving the people of Mpumalanga.
