Gert Sibande’s Fx Nino to release new album

This local hip-hop artist believes the album will put the Fernie area in Gert Sibande on the map.

A Fernie-based hip-hop artist, Nhlonipho Mndebele, stage name Fx Nino, has been busy in the studio working on a new album titled Umkhumbi kanowa. Fx Nino said his fans will enjoy this album, which will be released in November.

This 26-year-old said the album is about him saving the hip-hop culture just like Noah saved all of God’s creation in the Bible. He believes this will put the Fernie area in Gert Sibande on the map.

Mndebele started singing in 2015, and said he was inspired by Drake and AKA. “I learnt how to dance through watching Drake’s and AKA’s performances frequently, and I had the courage to perform in front of an audience with confidence,” he said.

In 2019, he released his first album, Pandora’s box and in 2021, he released his second album, Rocket. In 2022, he released three songs titled “Lord of the Rings” featuring Roger, “The plug” and “Good time”, featuring Busani and Cee Jay.

Mndebele said his best achievement so far has been being able to use his own studio equipment to record his albums, mix, produce and do his art cover design.

He also does the videography for his music videos and is assisting other artists in the community.

He said his dream is to be famous in the music industry and travel the world. He wishes to receive an award since he has never received one before. “I want to see my songs being played on various radio stations and to help many more upcoming artists in my community,” said Mndebele.

His music can be found on all digital platforms.
