Nkomazi’s Badvumisi Gospel Disciples set out to spread the good news

The group will celebrate its first anniversary in September and a big launch is said to be in the works.

A group of young people from all over the area is spreading the good news through the gospel. The Badvumisi Gospel Disciples was founded by the radio host, Banzi Shongwe.

Shongwe says while he hosted Breakfast Talk with Banzi on Nkomazi FM, he realised young people in Nkomazi are exposed to a number of challenges.

“Young people just need something to keep them off the streets, and what better way to do this than to get together through music while spreading the gospel and inspiring the soul? The group might have started through singing, but the main aim is to become a non-profit organisation where young people will have something to do, such as sporting activities. The group has 19 members, including the band. We have people who are unemployed, some are at universities; it’s basically young people from all walks of life in Nkomazi,” said Shongwe.

Badvumisi will celebrate its first anniversary in September, and according to Shongwe, a big launch is in the works.

“We have since released three songs through our LP and the lead song, “Uhamba nathi”, is enjoying great airplay and the people love it. All the songs are available on all online platforms.

“The lead song is very prophetic to us, because we believe God walks with us as we move forward in this journey of life and put all our plans into motion. We will officially launch the group on October 5 this year. We plan to have the mother of all gospel launches in Nkomazi. We will be at Block C High Praise Tabernacle, where we plan to come together with other local gospel artists and one big national artist,” he added.
