Nkomazi agricultural school a forerunner of 21st century education

Mahushe is one of 16 agricultural schools in Mpumalanga that empowers learners in the field of agricultural sciences and has received the stamp of approval from the Department of Education.

The Mpumalanga Department of Education (DoE) has recognised the Mahushe Agricultural School as a beacon of hope.

It is one of the 16 agricultural schools in the province, which are referred to as specialised schools. According to the department, the school has made serious strides to empower learners in the field of agricultural sciences.
It provides a practical manifestation of the three-stream model and is a distinct category of a public school that caters to learners with identifiable talents and aptitudes.

Mahushe is one of the focus schools intended to address the needs of 21st century education, such as developing the economy by providing innovative, subject-specific offerings.

The head of the DoE, Lucy Moyane, visited the school on Friday July 12, and was encouraged by the level of commitment, focus and learner interest in the field of agricultural science. She further addressed the Grade 12 class and encouraged them to do more to improve their academic performance.

On the same day, the MEC for education Cathy Dlamini, along with Moyane, met with the leadership of the Association of School Governing Bodies. Dlamini engaged them about her programme for her first 100 days in office and further pledged to work collaboratively with all associations.
