Nelson Mandela Month legacy project at Ntababomvu Primary School in Dundonald

This event was hosted by the Department of Education in partnership with various stakeholders.

The Gert Sibande instalment of the Nelson Mandela Month legacy project took place at Ntababomvu Primary School in Dundonald in the Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality on Tuesday July 16.

This event was held in partnership with Old Mutual, the Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust, the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs, the Department of Correctional Services, The Department of Health, and Home Affairs, as well as the Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality. All the departments offered their core services to the benefit of the school in honour and celebration of Nelson Mandela Month.

The MEC for education, Cathy Dlamini.

The main activities of the day were the painting of classrooms, the fixing of leaking roof and ceilings, and the establishment of a food garden and planting of trees.

During the keynote address, the MEC for education, Cathy Dlamini, encouraged the school community to work in partnership with the department to ensure the delivery of quality education.
She emphasised the need for working together and to always offer a helping hand to the needy and marginalised.

“With these campaigns, we want to establish a movement and create a powerful wave that will serve as a platform for our traditional leadership, religious leaders, parents, business, NGOs, our sister departments and civil society, to buy into the education enterprise by telling the story of the need to work together as ambassadors for good education delivery.”
The next activation will be in the Bohlabela District on Thursday July 18 at Ben Matloshe Secondary School.
