“We are truly grateful that our teachers, learners and non-teaching staff are returning to schools from their much-deserved leave. We hope they spare no effort and get the ball rolling to cover lost ground, cover the entire syllabus and ensure that every hour and minute is used fruitfully to prepare learners for the final assessments.”

Dlamini said it is their desire and intent to improve learners’ performance in local schools. She said she is hopeful that everyone is refreshed after the holidays and that the new energy will be utilised.

On Friday, Dlamini extended her appreciation to all the teachers who participated in the winter classes programme held throughout Mpumalanga in 89 day centres and 12 residential centres from June 24. These classes were meant for the 153 schools that obtained less than a 70% pass rate in the 2023 National Senior Certificate examinations. These centres offered 11 high enrolment subjects, nutrition and scholar transport to the learners who attended.
