Nkomazi gospel singer nominated in prestigious Basadi in Music Awards
Nomandla Sandra Mantshintshi is elated about her nomination for the Gospel Artist of the Year. Read her story below.
Marking one of her music career highlights, local songbird Nomandla Sandra Mantshintshi has been nominated for the Gospel Artist of the Year in the prestigious Basadi in Music Awards 2024.
“This nomination comes at the right time. It is an affirmation of my work and recognition by the heavens. It will not only empower me, but also the people who look up to me. I am so excited and I hope to bring the award home,” Mantshintshi said.
The Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards recipient has become an influential musician with a powerful voice for worship. The singer-songwriter, originally from Khombaso near Mbuzini in Nkomazi, started singing in church from a young age. She has worked with other astounding artists such as Ayanda Ntanzi and Nqubeko Mbatha and gained prominence on renowned music platforms such as DStv’s One Gospel, Indumiso Yase Mpumalanga and the Bushbuckridge Worship Explosion.

In 2023, she released a full album titled New Word and New Song, with 15 tracks featuring other talented local artists. The album is available on digital streaming platforms.
She shared some exciting news during her interview with Mpumalanga News, saying she would be releasing a new song this month that she hopes will change people’s lives. Mantshintshi is a wife, mother of three and a social worker based in Mbombela, and is passionate about women and youth empowerment and mental health.

“Some of my goals include creating platforms to uplift develop women in the music industry and to go beyond that to establish a safe haven for mental healthcare and development hub for young people in rural areas, such as those in Nkomazi,” she said.
