Education department mourns the death of Lekwa East circuit manager

Themba Ndlovu, well known as one of the best-performing circuit managers in Mpumalanga, died after he collapsed on Friday June 28.

The Mpumalanga Department of Education (DoE) is mourning the death of Lekwa East’s circuit manager, Themba Ndlovu.

The department announced his passing on Monday July 1. According to the DoE’s spokesperson, Gerald Sambo, Ndlovu passed away on Friday June 28 after he had collapsed at home.

Ndlovu was the former spokesperson for the South African Council for Educators, the former leader of the South African Democratic Teachers Union and was, at the time of his passing, one of the best-performing circuit managers in the province.

“In the 2022 National Senior Certificate Examination results, his circuit, Lekwa East, was declared the overall best-performing circuit in the province.”

The MEC for education, Cathy Dlamini, said she is equally devastated by this news. She has conveyed messages of condolences to the family, the district management team and to friends and relatives. Dlamini visited the bereaved family on Tuesday to pay her respects.
