Hip-hop artist from KaNyamazane dreams of becoming famous

Samkelo Sibande said he is working on his own project, and he hopes this will cement him in the local music industry.

A hip-hop musician and content creator, the 23-year-old Samkeliso Nsibande from KaNyamazane, known by his stage name Rap Slayah, said his song “Peace” has received good feedback.
He said the song is about love in relationships and an appreciation of his partner. It is an introduction to the new project he is working on.

Rap Slayah said he believes this project will showcase his uniqueness and will set him apart from other musicians. He also hopes it will help him to concentrate on becoming a better version of himself.

He started his music journey when he was in Grade 11 and was inspired by likes of Joyner Lucas, Eminem, Drake and Da Saint. “I started my rapping career because of my love of hip-hop music, and that is when I went from developing my liking for other genres,” he said.

“I have done openings for well-known artists such as Kwesta, Amaroto [Zuma and Reece Madlisa], Areece, Cassper Nyovest, Lady Zama, Dr Malinga and K.O.”

Rap Slayah is currently working on releasing a mixtape soon, titled D4L, which stands for ‘desire for love’. It will have 10 songs. He said he is not ready for a full album yet. “My dream is to see myself succeeding in the music industry and be one of the well-known hip-hop artists,” he said.
