Matsulu DJ dreams of making it locally and abroad
Boasting 12 years’ experience in the music industry, DJ BlackBone has shared stages with well-known artists in South Africa. He hopes to make it big in the industry one day.
A versatile DJ and a brand strategist, Khayalethu Mavuso (30), also known as DJ BlackBone, dreams of making it to the top in the music industry and to also build his brand label, ‘Umdubulo’.
BlackBone has been in the industry for 12 years now. In 2018 he started his own clothing brand called ‘Umdubulo’, the ‘Only Original Fake’.

He said he grew up listening to music and was inspired when he saw the young Msawawa and Mzambiya making it big in the music industry. He said this pushed him to want to start making his own music.
“I have shared the platform with big names such as Duncan, Zakwe, Distraction Boys and Maphorisa. I have also worked with schools, at private events, family gatherings, weddings, parties and corporate events.”

BlackBone composed two songs in October last year, titled “Ulele umama”, followed by “Kudliwa imali”, which featured DJ MDZ. He is currently working in a restaurant.
