Mpumalanga’s renowned church celebrates 30 years during Easter

Elshaddai Tabernacle International Church held its mass Passover convention with its members from various branches and celebrated 30 years of ministry.

A fast-growing church, with 20 branches across Mpumalanga and some in Gauteng, the Elshaddai Tabernacle International Church, led by Bp Petrus Mdaka and his wife, Maureen, celebrated its 30th anniversary during the Passover convention held at its auditorium in Mataffin.

Maureen said it has been 30 years of grace, looking back on how the church started. “We do not see it as an achievement but a challenge, a dedication of calling and being set apart for a task. According to the Bible, the work starts now.”

She said the church was founded in KaNyamazane in 1994 and held its services in the garage of a family, and later moved its fellowship meetings to Masihambisane Primary School.

“We held our meetings in that house, drafted the church’s constitution and held weekly prayers and worship. We are forever grateful to the Lekhuleni family for opening their home for us to do the work of the Lord, and to those who have been running the race with us since the inception of the church.”

To mark this auspicious celebration on Saturday March 30, she awarded the members and pastors who have served in the church for a long time. Moreover, the children’s church led a grand march, various individuals passed on their congratulatory messages and congregants had the opportunity to enjoy the anniversary cake.

Noted visitors joined in the festivities, such as the deputy minister of basic education, Dr Reginah Mhaule. She said Passover marks for an opportunity to pray for the South African government and also congratulated the church.

Some of the church’s children lead the grand march.

“The church is as old as South Africa’s democracy. Thirty years is no child’s play, and we can see the hard work that is being put into the success of the church. Congratulations to the church and its members. I would like to encourage the members of Elshaddai Tabernacle International to never cease praying for vision, because that is where it draws its success, and also for government and South Africa as a whole.”
