Ligwalagwala FM makes some exciting changes to its line-up

This year, 2024, this radio station will celebrate its 42nd anniversary, and a number of thrilling activities are in store for its listeners.

The SABC’s Siswati broadcasting radio station, Ligwalagwala FM, is making some changes in its line-up, which will see one of Mpumalanga’s most celebrated comedians, Ngcozi Yebo, joining the station’s breakfast team.

The station is currently at its peak with a listenership of over 1.5 million. These changes come into effect as of Monday April 1.

The talented Ngcozi Yebo joins the Kusile Mzansi Show, hosted by the equally gifted DJ Madumane and sports anchor, former professional footballer, Mduduzi Makwakwa, aka ‘Nsimbi’.

Another surprise change this 42-year-old radio station is making is that of the Afternoon Drive Show, known as the Siyahamba Manje Drive, which was hosted by Fortune Ntekati and the Drama Queen, Buhle Ndlovu.

The station has reshuffled the Drama Queen; she will now do her solo show, The Hit Parade, on Saturdays. She will be replaced by Thandeka Tonga, aka ‘TDK’, who will also continue with her one-man Sunday show, Siyadvumisa.

The Zone and Hip-Hop Parliament shows are getting rebranded, and will now be hosted by The Prince, the stations’ only original DJ who composes and produces his own music. The show will now be called LFM Eskhaleni.

Mawe2N, who was the solo host for the The Zone and Hip-Hop Parliament, will now host the Kusa Kusa Show, which airs between 03:00 and 06:00 on weekends.

Sadly leaving the station is Scolomane, who hosted the Traditional Music Show on Saturdays. His show will now be taken over by DJ Choraal.

Bono Swag is another surprise package, who has been roped in to take over the Party Time Reloaded Show, which was hosted by The Prince. This show has also been revamped and will now be called Groover nge Swagg.

There aren’t many other changes in the station’s line-up, however. One of the station’s loved presenters, Lungile Mhango, will continue doing her Tfokomala Nami Show at the same time slot on weekdays, with her weekly contributors, Alex Mthethwa for Khuluma Alex and Make Pule for Asitsetsi Siyalungisa.

Hlengiwe Sindane, Simphiwe Hlabangane, T-Boy, Fanie Ndinisa ‘Shlabani’ and Sweet Mike will all get to keep their shows and the time slots.

The station was also careful not to lose some of their cream and legends, as they retained the services of Shakes Nkuna, who hosts the Sidla Ngaloludzala Show, and Bheki Nxumalo, who presents the Afro Jazz Show, which he popularised at this very station some years ago.
