The Shine Car Show not only offered family fun, but an opportunity to give back to the community and assist in service delivery challenges such as water provision.

The Shine Car Show offered great fun for locals and aimed to uplift the community by ensuring better access to essential needs such as water.

Ordinary, but well-loved cars and some luxury vehicles, were entered for the showcase at the KaBokweni Stadium on Sunday March 3. Attendees also enjoyed live entertainment from local creatives such as DJ Fitted.

The show’s organiser, Bethuel Nkuna, also a comedian and traffic controller volunteer since 2016, said this event, his first, was a success.

“It was supported with the entries, especially from local stance clubs, and families and friends bought tickets to enjoy an exciting outdoor activity. Unfortunately, I could not raise enough funds for the project I am embarking on, to install a borehole in Phola Park in KaBokweni. The water scarcity has caused many communities to struggle, and some have resorted to buying water from tankers, which is expensive and unsustainable. The borehole will assist those who cannot afford to buy water and help the community with access to quality water.”

Nkuna said he would continue to host more car shows to reach his target. “The aim is not to make money. I do this out of love and to inspire other locals to do well in their communities. I urge locals to support the borehole project and support creatives who aim to make a difference in KaBokweni,” he said.
