Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature hosts send-off for member of guard of honour
Gugu Khaba had the opportunity to represent Mpumalanga as part of civil guard of honour at the State of the Nation Address
A send-off session was held for Gugu Khaba at the Provincial Legislature on Wednesday February 7 before she travelled to Cape Town to form part of the State of the Nation Address (Sona) 2024 civil guard of honour.
The Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature’s acting secretary, Thulare Madileng, accompanied by members of management, Mbuso Mpika, Phakamile Thwala and Adv Buyile Mdluli, held this session. The Sona was held in Cape Town on Thursday February 8.

Khaba is the centre manager of the Masibambane Disabled Group in the Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality in the Gert Sibande District. She started working at the centre as a volunteer back in 2008. She served as a member of the Tjakastad Clinic Committee, and continues to serve as an active member of the Tjakastad Community Committee.

Her dedicated community service at the centre has earned her the nomination to join civilians from other provinces to form part of the civil guard of honour.
Madileng wished Khaba well as a servant of the Tjakastad community. He indicated the Legislature’s pride and delight at Khaba representing the interests of the province’s people.
