Lowveld Walkers go back to where their journey started

The Lowveld Walkers recently celebrated their sixth anniversary by hosting their first walk of the year on old, familiar paths.

The Lowveld Walkers celebrated their sixth anniversary by going back to the area in which they held their very first walk.

On Saturday February 3, more than 500 walkers went out to Emfuleni Park, KaNyamazane. This was also the first walk for 2024.

Joseph Mashaba, the founder of Lowveld Walkers, said the turnout was overwhelming, and not what they expected. “When I arrived early that morning, I struggled to find a parking space. For the first time in six years, the attendance was this big on our first walk of the year. We had more than 100 new people who attended that day,” he said.

According to him, when he started the organisation years ago, he never imagined that things would get this far.
The group shares its programmes on its social media pages. “Our walks are every weekend, for free, and everyone is welcome. Those who would like to join the walkers can visit Lowveld Walkers on Facebook or contact me on 076 444 2343,” said Mashaba.
