Nkomazi learner the best in technical mathematics in province and country

Innocent Mbimbili of DD Mabuza Comprehensive School was named the best learner in technical mathematics in the country during the national results announcement in Gauteng last week.

Innocent Mbimbili of DD Mabuza Comprehensive School in Block B in Nkomazi Local Municipality outshone the rest in technical mathematics (quintile 1). This 18-year-old took first place on the provincial and national levels.
He also scooped up second place in technical science in the province.

The national results were announced by the minister of basic education, Angie Motshekga, in Gauteng on Thursday January 18, and the provincial results were announced at the University of Mpumalanga on Friday January 19.

During an interview with the newspaper, Mbimbili said he is planning to study mining engineering. “I will study at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).” He said the only secret to paying grade is putting ones studies before anything. “I didn’t have a timetable, although I set time aside every day and made sure that I work hard in my studies. I would make sure that if I go out to hang out with friends, when I get home I study and practice,” Mbimbili explained.

In the same school, a learner, Siyabonga Vuma, took second place in technical mathematics on both national and provincial levels. Vuma is also planning to study at UJ.

According to him, he made a timetable to assist him to focus on his work. “I had a time table that I use, during the week I focussed on difficult subjects like technical mathematics and during the weekend I focused on languages.”

The school also has a learner that scooped first place on the provincial level in technical science, Siyabonga Sambo. The principal of the school, Mbongeni Ngomane, said he is very proud of the learners.

“I wish that the Class of 2024 would continue in the same way and make it to national and provincial awards. Since the year 2019 the school has had a learner in the national awards and we want to see it happening again.”
