Mbombela model and fitness fanatic headed for greatness

The multitalented entertainer hopes to create a hub to nurture the talents of aspiring young actors and models.

A model, Paul G Mandlazi (29), makes a living off his passions.

Mandlazi, who ventured into modelling late in 2017, decided to give up on his childhood dream to be a lawyer. “I used to get compliments about my body and people asked if I was a model. I have always been a fitness enthusiast, yet I never thought about modelling. Well, I did not know where to start. I joined a local modelling agency, which I did not continue,” Mandlazi said.

He said soon afterwards, he met someone who pushed him to audition for modelling gigs and taught him the runway walk and poses.

“I was successful in my first-ever audition for the Mpumalanga Fashion Extravaganza. I went on to model in more fashion shows in Mbombela, such as the Mpumalanga Fashion Week, the Fashion and Crafts Show and Fashion Week Africa. I have also modelled in shows in Pretoria and eSwatini.”

He said he fell in love with modelling and sees a bright future ahead of him. While he was growing up in Msogwaba, he never thought he would one day be a model, actor, modelling coach and a personal fitness trainer.

He has also ventured into acting, trying his luck in local productions. He hopes to see himself in big TV shows soon.

“Venturing into the entertainment and creative industry is much simpler nowadays. There are a lot of venues and platforms to build your brand through your passions. Social media has made a lot of those platforms accessible, such as going for auditions.”
