Nkomazi Riders Club chairperson dies in tragic bike accident

Skhokho’s mother told his fellow bikers that it was his wish to exit this world on a bike, and that he therefore died a happy and peaceful man.

The Nkomazi Riders Club members are mourning the loss of their chairperson, Tshegofatso ‘Skhokho’ Malomane.

Skhokho died in a motorbike accident on the N4 towards the KaNyamazane off-ramp on Saturday November 25.

During their visit to the bereaved family in Mjejane on Sunday, the riders described Skhokho as a great leader who lived life to the full. “We have lost a selfless leader and a unifier. He had a heart for the people and he loved all of us without limit. Anyone who had the privilege of being close to Skhokho felt special in some way. It came naturally for him to love and nurture,” said Agatha Ntini, a member of the Nkomazi Riders Club.

According to Ntini, Skhokho had a series of plans lined up for the club. “One of his many plans was for us to have our own doctor at Nkomazi Bikers Club, and he had already started making arrangements with Dr Mkhabela, a local clinical doctor, to have him treat any biker who got injured on the road. The only thing that was left was for him to get Mkhabela his own waistcoat with ‘Bikervile Doctor’ written on it. He had also planned a gala dinner for the bikers on December 22. He wanted us to come together and host a thanksgiving for the year,” she added.

Skhokho’s mother, Dikeledi Malomane, said her son had wished for his death to come by means of a motorbike. “He was very passionate about biking, and every time he came home to Bushbuckridge to visit, he would pull stunts at the gate and tell me he would not wish to die in any other way except on his bike. I am happy to see the people who share the same passion with him here today. It is very comforting for us a family to witness such overwhelming support,” she said.
