The Riverside CID partners with the University of Mpumalanga

The Riverside CID joined forces with the University of Mpumalanga to drive innovative projects that will positively impact the Lowveld community and beyond.

The Riverside City Improvement District (CID) is thrilled to have celebrated a partnership and agreement recognition ceremony on 14 November, in collaboration with the esteemed University of Mpumalanga (UMP).
This landmark partnership will foster collaboration and synergy between the Riverside CID and the UMP to jointly drive innovative projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life within the Lowveld community and beyond.

This signifies a step forward in the Riverside CID’s ongoing commitment to community development and a brighter future for the Lowveld region. The celebration took place at the UMP, where leaders from both organisations came together to formalise this visionary partnership.

Sabine Walker, chairperson of the Riverside Park Board expressed her enthusiasm for this collaborative endeavour, stating, “We are thrilled to embark on this journey with the University of Mpumalanga. This partnership symbolises a new era of community development, where the strengths of academia and business unite to address the unique challenges and opportunities of the Lowveld region. Together, we aim to create a better, more prosperous future for all.”

Prof Dan Parker, a key advocate for this partnership, expressed his excitement, stating, “This co-joined pioneering journey with the University of Mpumalanga signifies a commitment to innovative solutions and shared progress.”

The Riverside CID and the UMP will focus on a range of initiatives, including community engagement programmes, educational opportunities, sustainable development projects and more. The ultimate goal is to uplift the Lowveld community and create a prosperous, inclusive and vibrant environment for all residents.

Dr Aldo Stroebel, deputy vice chancellor for research, innovation and internationalisation at the UMP, emphasised the impact-oriented nature of this collaboration, stating, “This partnership means impact orientation. It is a testament to our collective dedication to driving positive change in the Lowveld region. Together with the Riverside CID we aim to leverage our research, innovation, and internationalisation efforts for the benefit of the community.”
