Mpumalanga EFF chairperson appeals to young people to register to vote

The Independent Electoral Commission has declared November 18 and 19 as the official voters’ registration weekend.

The Mpumalanga EFF’s chairperson, Collen Sedibe, has told the media that the road to eradicating rampant corruption in the province begins this weekend, November 18 and 19.

This has been declared the voters’ registration weekend by the Independent Electoral Commission, when citizens are encouraged to go and register on the voters’ roll to be able to vote in the upcoming national and provincial elections scheduled for 2024 on a date still to be announced by the state president, Cyril Ramaphosa.

Sedibe said for change to come to the people of Mpumalanga, they will need to stop everything and make some time to go and register this weekend so that they can have a much louder say in next year’s elections.

“Our people are tired of corruption. They are tired of unemployment. They are certainly tired of the lack of services. But we all have the power in our hands to change the tide around. This weekend affords us the first step towards achieving the dream of a better South Africa and a better Mpumalanga. A call has been made. Let us all go and get registered this weekend,” urged Sedibe.

He made a special plea to all young people in Mpumalanga to dedicate this weekend to nothing but this important task of registering to vote.

“It is not a secret that this country is becoming ever youthful, and therefore it requires the strength and wisdom of all young people to make it better. I want to appeal to young people to take this seriously, because it speaks directly to their future and of the country. To every one of us who are tired of all these social ills and the bad roads in our communities, make an appointment with the future, which begins this weekend.”
