Community of Botleng gets state-of-the-art health centre

The facility consists of 12 consulting rooms and provides comprehensive primary healthcare services to the community.

A state-of-the-art health facility, the Botleng Ext 6 Community Health Centre (CHC), was officially opened by Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane in the Victor Khanye Local Municipality on Friday October 20.
It is a 24-hour clinic that will provide comprehensive primary healthcare services to the community.

The construction of this healthcare facility had created 15 employment opportunities during the commissioning, and an additional 203 employment opportunities during the construction.

The facility consists of 12 consulting rooms and is equipped for the treatment of, among others: emergency care services; management of chronic conditions; integrated management of childhood illnesses; mental healthcare services; and antenatal and post-natal care services.

This is part of government’s effort to strengthen primary healthcare services for the people who solely rely on public healthcare services. The MEC for health, Sasekani Manzini, told the health workers to treat the patients with kindness and care.

“I do not wish to get complaints from the community about bad staff attitudes and long queues,” she said.

When speaking during the official opening, the premier mentioned the importance of working with the private sector to improve service delivery for the people.

“We wish to thank General Electric Vernova and Eskom for their generous and practical investment in the community of Botleng. The impact of your R75m investment in this community will be heralded for generations to come. Your generosity has shown us that the sustainable development of our communities is the responsibility not only of government, but also of all who derive a semblance of benefit from the commercial activities within our beautiful province,” she said.

Mtshweni-Tsipane said this health-care facility is intended to benefit this community. “The healthcare practitioners who work at this facility must remember that ours is a human-anchored government that must prioritise the people at all times. Let us be remember the batho pele principles we have adopted in public service. You must provide healthcare services with the necessary compassion, care, sympathy and professionalism, because our people are the most important asset our province has.”
