Mr Bushbuckridge King 2023 crowned

The new king said he was excited and looking forward to the responsibilities that come with the title.

After several months of searching for the new king of Bushbuckridge, Clinton Mohlala walked away as 2023’s winner at the pageant’s finale held in Thulamahashe on October 14.

The pageant’s founder, Dumisane Mathebula, said Mohlala was chosen as he met all the requirements, but stressed that every contestant was a winner in his own right, and said their efforts in entering and being part of the contest until the end were appreciated.

Mohlala, from Sgodiphola, was one of seven finalists. The new king said he is excited and looking forward to the responsibilities that come with the title. He said it was not an easy journey and thanked all the people who supported him. “I am very happy to have won the title and I believe it will open opportunities for me. I will serve my community with pride and make sure the projects I started during this journey will continue. As for the organisers, I would like to thank them for giving a boy an opportunity to showcase what he is capable of,” he said.

The other winners were Witness Mashego, the public’s choice, while Trust Chiloane is the new Bushbuckridge Ambassador for 2023.
