Tree planting brings joy for Maphakama Primary School in KaBokweni

According to Estelle Roe of Stop Poaching Endangered African Rhino, there were 20 companies that came together with one vision of making a difference while educating the learners.

Various companies came together at Maphakama Primary School on September 15 to plant several trees and a variety of vegetables. The aim of this initiative was to help offset carbon emissions while educating the learners on the environment and conservation.

On the day, the kids presented various entertainment activities that they prepared for the guests.
According to Estelle Roe of Stop Poaching Endangered African Rhino, the day went as planned, and the children were happy to be part of this initiative.

“The day was a huge success for our hosts, as well as for the South African Council for Business Women. We had around 20 companies planting vegetables and fruit trees with about 1 075 schoolchildren.”

Roe addressed the learners on the importance of conservation in the Kruger National Park. She educated them about the benefits of having the Kruger in the province and the role it plays. “If we do not take care of the environment and the animals, they will be gone one day. The park is important as it boosts the economy in the province.”

ACS Spartan’s John Meintjes did a presentation on the role of the ACS dog unit. “We can use these dogs to track criminals, and they assist when the team is investigating.”

The school’s deputy principal, Diffier Thibela, said he appreciated the visit and all the businesses that took their time and participated in the initiative. In his speech, he expressed his appreciation of all the things that were done for the school in the past years. “We are pleased to see everyone here and we are glad our school was chosen.”
