The learners of Bongamlambo Primary School in Newscom outside KaBokweni celebrated Heritage Month on September 22 by going to school dressed up in their traditional attire.
They sang and danced to some traditional hits offered by South African artists. Some recited poems about the various cultures and some recited their clan names.

One of the teachers, Nelisiwe Mkhonza, said some of the learners managed to bring some traditional food prepared at home.
“It was important for us to come together as teachers and learners to celebrate our cultures, as it is Heritage Month. The school has children and teachers from various cultures, from Vhavenda, siSwati, Zulu to Xhosa,” she said.

“It was a great way to promote cultural awareness and respect among the learners and teachers. The kids learnt the importance of embracing diversity and becoming more informed about the different cultures that make up our country.”
