Early Christmas at Moses Sihlangu Healthcare Centre in KaBokweni

According to the founder of Picnic Kuzin, Kgothatso Mashego, they want to remind the kids at the centre that they are part of the community.

As part of the Picnic Kuzin initiative, food parcels, clothes and 15 000L of water were donated to the Moses Sihlangu Healthcare Centre on August 17.
This community is currently facing water shortage challenges.

According to the founder of Picnic Kuzin, Kgothatso Mashego, this was part of the early Christmas outreach programme, which focused on touching the lives of the less fortunate.

“The purpose was to remind these kids that they are part of the community and that they are loved, and to send a message that as an organisation, we know the hardships faced by our brothers in the society. We decided to use the little we have to show love and spend time with them, and not only to donate. We then prepared lunch and played soccer with them. The best highlight of the day was to see them smile while playing with them,” he said.

“I might not have grown up in this centre, but I spent my childhood days playing there, and sometimes got a meal. It was a home for me, and I personally value every kid there as a younger brother or sister. I support the centre because it is based within the parameters of KaBokweni, which is the home of Picnic Kuzin, and it would not make sense to go anywhere else before Moses Sihlangu.”

Mashego said the black community is struggling to make ends meet. “The community need one another to handle the social balance by giving, because it goes a long way to the other people out there.”
