In celebration of Women’s Month, Women in Tourism Mpumalanga (WIT) will be hosting its first annual tourism charity fundraising golf day on Thursday, August 31.
The aim will be to empower, connect and support women in tourism.

According to the co-ordinator, Duduzile Mnisi-Khoza, the funds raised at the event will go towards empowering more women to participate in tourism, one of Mpumalanga’s major streams of income.

“We also want to educate the public about our mission and vision, and create awareness about WIT. We wish to encourage local women to join the industry to create jobs for themselves, and plan on creating a platform for the public to meet women in tourism by hosting arts and crafts exhibitions and traditional dancers”

Mnisi also said the sponsors will have the opportunity to promote their brand by interacting with attendees. “We are intending to train and create awareness, especially on issues affecting women, youth and people with disabilities; equipping people on how to market their business, create their own tourism destinations and other income generating opportunities. We hope all stakeholders in business, be it tourism or other types, will come and market their businesses on the golf day.

However, it will also be a fun day with the area open to people of all ages,” she said.
Food will be available at the venue. The event will take place at the Kruger Park Lodge in Hazyview on August 31. Register online or contact WIT on 082 681 2824 for more information.
